I really enjoyed the private screening of 'Dressing of the Assassin' on today at ICA. The doco was about 'The Horse Hospital' and interviewed the curator who spoke of the 15,000, garments that represent popular culture from 1940's to the current day. The film gave a general tour through the collection and the curator spoke of his personal business ventures with Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McClaren in the 80's. The appearance that the couple gave of having little monies, did not detour business investors, and store designers, as they knew that there was huge amount of talent and success to be made. To most people it was a privlege to be intereacting with such great talent, as their ideas were original and represented PUNK, like no other.
The film showed garments which had been donated, by influential peoples in society and had pretty impressive range of cowboy hats.
Most of all, I would like to see this doco again, and it will be available online in 2 weeks. Mainly, since I had to contend with crying babies, and people who continued to walk in and out and block my view. So, I will continue this blog, with info on how to view this doco, once it becomes available online.
